Craps

Craps is a dice game, created in the 19th century by Black Americans, and is a variant of the popular European game “passe” or “bazard”, where the aim is to predict the outcome of two dice. Craps is the quickest and most exciting game.

Set-up
Craps is played with two dice of the same colour, with a clear, polished surface; the total of two opposite sides always equals 7. The table is rectangular with raised edges (40cm), so that the dice do not fall outside the game area.

Aim of the game
The shooter tosses the dice to get a points total or a figure. The shooter and the players then try to guess the result and bet on the appropriate squares. Those who guessed correctly win and the others lose.

The game
Five dice are offered to the players in turn, starting, at the beginning of the game, with the person to the left of the croupiers, and then continuing in a clockwise direction. If a player passes his/her turn, the dice are handed to the next player, in the original order.  The player chooses two dice and the other three are replaced in the “bowl” until the next game where the same procedure is applied.
The player who tosses the dice must toss them immediately and is not allowed to rub them or keep them in his/her hand. The dice are thrown along the table so that they stop in the opposite part of the table from where they were thrown after at least one has hit the edge opposite the shooter. They must roll, not slide. In order for a throw to be valid, the dice must stop flat on the table.  If the dice are on top of each other, straddling, stop on a chip or fall off the table, play shall be void.

Playing the game
For the first roll of the dice (the “come out” roll), the shooter must place his/her bet on the PASS LINE. He/she wins with seven or eleven and loses with two, three or twelve.  Otherwise, he/she bets on DON’T PASS and wins with two and three, has an invalid throw with a twelve and loses with seven and eleven.
When he/she scores points (four, five, six, eight, nine or ten), the croupier puts a marker on the square with this number; the bet on the PASS LINE wins if this number is repeated and loses with a seven. Conversely, a bet on DON’T PASS wins with a seven and loses if the score established is repeated.
The shooter loses his/her hand when he/she makes a losing 7: “SEVEN OUT”. The game then moves on to the next player.
On the PASS LINE, it is not possible, under any circumstances, to withdraw or reduce a bet, but you can increase it.
Conversely, on DON’T PASS, you cannot increase your bet, but you can reduce it or actually withdraw it.
