English Roulette
In addition to the blue covering and wheel, the table has a board showing the value of the colours (chips) used, as each player receives his/her own colour and decides himself/herself on the value of his/her chips before beginning to play. The player may only use these chips at the table at which he/she bought them, and must exchange them for proper gambling chips on leaving the table. Otherwise, these chips will only be worth the amount of the minimum bet set at this table.
Numbers from 0 to 36 are drawn on the table, along with squares enabling players to make outside, column and dozen bets.
The wheel contains 37 squares numbered from 0 to 36; they are not in numerical order. These squares are alternately red and black (the zero square is green), and are organised so that no two numbers following each other are ever next to each other, and so that if the wheel is divided into equal parts between the numbers 26 and 32, there are as many even numbers as odd numbers on each part, as many red squares as black squares, as many low numbers (1 to 18) as high numbers (19 to 36) and so that the total of the numbers is 333 on each part.
The game starts when the croupier says “place your bets”. He then starts turning the wheel in one direction while the ball is thrown in the opposite direction; bets are accepted until the croupier says “no more bets”. When the wheel has turned a certain number of times, the ball slows down and ends up in one of the numbered squares. The winning bets are then fixed. The croupier indicates the winning number by placing a small plastic marker on it and begins to pay the winning bets, starting with the outside bets and ending with the straight bets.
